The purpose of the paper is to analyze the breeding and productive qualities of the Holstein black-and-white cattle, bred in the Ural Region, which includes 7 subjects of the Russian Federation – the Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan Regions, the Perm Territory, the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Udmurt Republic. The main result of the research based on the analysis of the animal valuation data is the conclusion of the consistent patterns and the peculiarities of conducting selective and breeding operations with the milk cattle in the Urals. Thus, was created an array of the Holstein black-and-white cattle with the genetic capacity for more than 10000 kilograms of milk production, the weight content of fat 3.8 – 4.0% and the weight content of proteiс substance 3.0 – 3.2%, which can be implemented to the maximum by the creation of good housing and feeding conditions for all of the age-sex groups. For further increasing of the economical efficiency of the Holstein black-and-white cattle population it is needed to improve the breed in the lactation performance and its components - protein, fat, and suitability for use in industrial production. In order for it to be possible it is needed to carry out the accumulation cross breeding in all the agricultural organizations of the Ural Region.
